I have always enjoyed fitness. High impact running, intense step aerobics and boot-camp style workouts were my favorites.
After years of “pounding” my body and not paying attention to the messages it was sending me, I herniated several discs in my low back. I tried to avoid surgery for over a year using traditional therapies with no success.
In 2006, I lost feeling in my left foot and required spinal surgery to release the pressure on the compressed nerves.
I was no longer able to perform the exercises to which I had become accustomed. I soon was overweight and unhappy.
I had become the stereotypical overweight and under-appreciated housewife. My confidence level was very low.
